The European standard for electronic invoices.
EN 16931 specifies the semantic data model for e-invoices: around 180 business terms and groups, from BT-1 to BT-165 and BG-1 to BG-32.
The standard is syntax-neutral: it describes what information an invoice must contain, not what the XML file looks like. UBL and CII are two syntaxes that represent it.
The business rules BR-01 to BR-65 check mandatory fields, sum logic, sales tax distribution and code lists.
